The positive storyline for the Cleveland Browns through four games in the 2023 season is the defense.
A part of that defense is second-year cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. and he’s playing well just like the majority of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s unit.

The above stat shows that Emerson is giving up a completed pass just about a quarter of the time. That number leads the Browns and the entire NFL. Not too bad for a third-round pick, right?
Emerson has allowed four catches, his only issue is that those catches have resulted in 80 yards. As a rookie, Emerson allowed just over 10 yards per catch.
So far in 2023, Emerson has two pass breakups and is playing the majority of his snaps on the boundary opposite of Denzel Ward. Greg Newsome II has been terrific in the slot.
Emerson’s physicality and ability to work like a glove with opposing offensive players has boosted his stock early on in the NFL. Currently, quarterbacks aren’t having much success targeting him and that bodes well for Cleveland.
He’s yet to have his first career interception but you just know it’s going to come before long.
