Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer brushed off concerns about wide receiver CeeDee Lamb's holdout.
"It doesn't matter right now," Schottenheimer said in a Tuesday news conference. "CeeDee's a pro. He's going to know what to do. Again, I know [quarterback Dak Prescott] and the guys have some communication with him. We know he's taking care of business and when he gets back here, we'll certainly be able to find ways to get him the ball."
While Schottenheimer claims Lamb's holdout isn't a big deal, he could change his tune if it drags into training camp.
Lamb is entering the final year of his rookie contract with a fully guaranteed fifth-year option ($17.991M). The 25-year-old hasn't attended Dallas' voluntary workouts, which started in April. It remains unclear whether he'll return when OTAs begin on May 21.
Star pass-catchers recently signed massive extensions, including Philadelphia's A.J. Brown (three years, $96M) and Detroit's Amon-Ra St. Brown (four years, $120,010M). Lamb probably wants a similar contract.
Lamb has earned three Pro Bowl nods in four seasons with the Cowboys. In 17 games in 2023, he led the league in receptions (135) and finished third in touchdown catches (12).

Spotrac estimates the Cowboys hold $1.925M in cap space, 29th in the NFL. Next offseason, they could franchise tag Lamb instead of giving him a colossal extension.
However, Dallas should find a way to pay the elite wideout. He's one of the Cowboys' best players, and teammates feel he clearly deserves a new deal.
"He deserves everything that is coming his way," Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks recently said, per the team website. "And I hope he gets every single dollar that he can and becomes the highest-paid receiver in the league because he's the greatest receiver in the league. No doubt."
